MacBook User Accounts
Employees with a MacBook have 2 accounts: a local account and a network account. The local account is the main account that most teachers are using. The network account must be used when access is needed at school to audio/video streaming sites, social networking sites, etc. The network account uses first name.last name and the password you created when you first logged in. You will need to use the local account if you use your MacBook at home.
To switch between accounts, click in the top right corner of the screen where the username appears to select the account you want to use. You can also log out of an account by clicking the apple in the upper left corner and selecting Log out.
Each person is responsible for backing up their files. The files that you store on your laptop should be copied to your Google Drive on a regular basis. Otherwise, you risk losing all files when the hard drive fails. Google Drive has unlimited storage for education users. It is cloud-based storage and permits access to your files from any device with an Internet connection. Google does regular backups of this storage. The tech department recommends that all users backup their important files to Google Drive.
