MacBook User Accounts
Employees with a MacBook have 2 accounts: a local account and a network account. The local account is the main account that most teachers use. To access sites being blocked by the filter, school employees should sign into the Faculty wifi using their network account. The network account uses first name.last name and the password you created when you first logged in. If you have difficulty connecting to the Faculty wifi, contact the tech staff for help. You will need to use the local account if you use your MacBook at home.
Each person is responsible for backing up their files. The files that you store on your laptop should be copied to your Google Drive on a regular basis. Otherwise, you risk losing all files when the hard drive fails. Google Drive has unlimited storage for education users. It is cloud-based storage and permits access to your files from any device with an Internet connection. Google does regular backups of this storage. The tech department recommends that all users backup their important files to Google Drive.
